Fabricademy and Personal fabrication for care is a transdisciplinary course that focuses on the development of new technologies and sustainable impact applied in the textile, soft materials and assistive devices industry, the project aims to support the professional career of female students in disciplines which involve digital fabrication, contributing to gender equality and participatory research in academics. Fabricademy is an advanced training established by The Academany and Fab foundation with the philosophy of the MIT class format, which is a new global educational structure offering high-level education all over the globe, This Project is supported by Equal Opportunities for Women Commission at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and 3D Competence Center Niederrhein at FabLab Kamp-Lintfort.
Fabricademy as well as Fab Academy is a distributed educational model providing a unique educational experience. Each Fab Lab that participates in the Fabricademy program is part of a global Fab Lab network. These Fab Labs are Nodes that offer the Fabricademy program.
The two phase program will last 6 months, with approximately 3 months of seminars and learning modules, and three months focusing on individual in depth applied project research in the field of assistive technologies and health care
The Fabricademy is offered in the format of interdisciplinary Project with the focus on the development of personal fabrication for care and digital craftsmanship that the students will approach and go in deep in their final project working as an interdisciplinary team.
